At Watches and Wonders Geneva, IWC Schaffhausen revealed a new lineup of timepieces inspired by its partnership with the upcoming film F1. Among the highlights is a limited-edition Ingenieur Automatic 40 featuring a green dial, a nod to the custom watch worn by lead character Sonny Hayes in the movie. Alongside this, IWC also introduced three Pilot’s Watch chronographs, each designed with color schemes and details that reflect the livery and identity of APXGP — the fictional racing team central to the film’s storyline.
Pilot's Watch Performance Chronograph Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month
Taking innovation up a notch, IWC presents the Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month – the first perpetual calendar in the brand’s Performance Chronograph range. This model reflects the futuristic and high-tech themes often associated with Formula 1.
This intricate timepiece merges IWC’s Performance Chronograph architecture with a full Ceratanium build — covering the case, crown, pushers, and bracelet. Inside beats the in-house 89802 caliber, which integrates a perpetual calendar featuring digital displays for both the date and month. At 12 o’clock, there’s a combined chronograph register that tracks both hours and minutes, along with a traditional time display and small seconds. All of these functions are housed in a 43mm-wide, 16.5mm-thick case topped with a ceramic bezel.
Ingenieur Automatic 40 Limited Edition
Taking inspiration from the watch Brad Pitt wears in F1, this special 40mm edition of the Ingenieur Automatic draws from the original Ingenieur SL 1832 design. It features a distinctive olive green dial — the signature color of Pitt’s character, Sonny Hayes — set in a stainless steel case and bracelet, enhanced with gold-tone details on the hands and markers. Powered by IWC’s in-house 32111 movement, it delivers an impressive 120-hour power reserve. Limited to 1,000 pieces, this model is priced at $12,600.

If a highly complex $80,000 chronograph feels like too much for your wrist this F1 season, IWC has also introduced a more approachable trio of chronograph watches, designed in connection with the fictional racing team APXGP – a team that the brand officially supports within the storyline of the upcoming F1 movie. These models bring the spirit of the film to life and will be seen worn by key characters and team members throughout the movie.
This cinematic collaboration marks an exciting shift for IWC. Known for its longstanding real-world partnership with the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team, the brand now extends its F1 connection into the world of fiction and film. With F1 being helmed by Joseph Kosinski, the director behind Top Gun: Maverick, expectations are high for a major summer blockbuster. The blending of luxury watchmaking with high-speed motorsport and Hollywood storytelling creates a unique synergy that watch enthusiasts and racing fans alike will appreciate.
We’ll all get to see how this partnership plays out on the big screen when F1 premieres on June 27.
