IWC, which always draws its greatest inspiration from nature, continues to receive acclaim in the world of watches with its brand-new color codes. The new Portugieser Chronograph Dune, (Sand Beige) carries the unique color of the vast sunny deserts and the smoothly layered sand dunes onto its watch dial. The Dune-colored dial, which depicts the hours when day meets night, is adorned with a stainless steel case and a black crocodile leather strap. The watch features a classic column wheel design and operates with the IWC-made mechanical chronograph movement caliber 69355.
Since 1998, the Portugieser Chronograph has represented sporty elegance in the Portugieser collection. Thanks to the iconic vertical arrangement of the subdials, the elapsed minutes are easily readable directly at the 12 o'clock position, while the seconds subdial is located at the 6 o'clock position. Another distinguishing feature of the design is the inner flange equipped with a quarter-second scale, allowing the chronometer timing to be determined to the exact second.
The most striking element of the new model is the dial produced through detailed processes. Before applying paint to the brass base, a sunburst pattern process was used. In the next step, the surfaces were smoothed, polished to a high shine, and 15 layers of transparent lacquer were applied. The totalizers were milled into the brass base and the lacquer layer. The printing process, which is the product of a special procedure, enhanced the three-dimensional effect created on the dial. Finally, the hour markers were placed one by one by hand. The production process of the dials involves more than 60 extremely challenging stages.
The Portugieser Chronograph (Ref. IW371624) model featuring a Dune-colored dial is equipped with a stainless steel case, gold-plated hands and hour markers, and a black crocodile leather strap. This combination reflects the late afternoon hours when day meets night. The detailed lacquer surface treatment makes the gold hour markers appear as if they are floating above the dial.
